Château Haut-Batailley

Pauillac

FAMILLE CAZES

Château Haut-Batailley, symbolised by the Tour l’Aspic, stands at the gateway to the Pauillac vineyards

A STORY

In a few words

The estate owes its name to the hamlet of Batailley where a battle of the Hundred Years’ War took place in the 15th century.

In 2017, the Cazes family purchased the estate, signalling the start of a new chapter. At the time, only 22 out of the 40 or so hectares of vines sitting atop deep Garonne gravel soil were under production.

As of 2018, following an in-depth soil study, 19 hectares classified in the Pauillac appellation have been replanted on soil that has been well-rested for many years. Château Haut-Batailley is an elegant, harmonious wine with a fine tannic structure that develops complexity and depth with age.
