Château Gazin formerly belonged to the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem (Order of Malta) and is one of the largest estates in its appellation.
A STORY
In few words
Louis Soualle, the great-grandfather of the present owners, acquired Château Gazin in 1918 and the estate continues to be carefully managed by his descendants.
The vineyard is planted in a single block on the upper part of the Pomerol plateau. Its subsoil is composed of blue clay, also known as smectite, providing coolness particularly suited to Merlot. This star grape variety in Pomerol adds finesse and complexity to the wines.
Château Gazin has always practised traditional viticulture that respects the environment: ploughing and green cover, manual harvesting and viticultural operations, protecting wildlife and biodiversity.
The wine is fermented without sulphur, and matured for 16 months in oak barrels before being bottled at the Château. 90% of production is exported worldwide, exclusively by Bordeaux merchants.
Château Gazin is a member of the Académie du vin de Bordeaux.
