Clos Fourtet

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

PHILIPPE CUVELIER

An illustrious vineyard at the gateway to Saint-Emilion

A STORY

In a few words

Located next to the village of Saint-Emilion, at the foot of the collegiate church and the Great Wall, Clos Fourtet has always been an elite first great growth.

The wines are made from Merlot, Saint-Emilion’s distinctive grape variety, grown on the plateau on claylimestone soil, and traditionally aged in barrel in former stone quarries. Their aromatic purity and precision on the palate is a reflection of this outstanding terroir.

In 2001, the Cuvelier family took over Clos Fourtet and invested in the estate to help it achieve its full potential. Their hard work and high standards propelled the wines among the very best in the appellation. Their approach to high-precision viticulture and commitments to protecting the environment have resulted in a wine in keeping with the times.
