Château Olivier

Pessac-Léognan

FAMILLE JEAN-JACQUES DE BETHMANN

Château Olivier emerges in a vast clearing in the middle of a large estate consisting of forests, meadows, and vines.

A STORY

In a few words

Its distinctive architecture, ponds, and attractive outbuildings make for an outstanding property in a magnificent natural setting. Olivier is a very ancient seigneury, whose history dates back to the early Middle Ages. The estate has belonged to the Bethmann family since the 19th century.

In recent years, they have invested heavily in restructuring the vineyards.

A detailed soil survey revealed new potential for the terroir and the vineyard was eventually turned back to its 18th-century configuration. Five different grape varieties are grown on gravelly soil atop a clay-limestone bedrock.

Château Olivier’s red and white wines were classified in 1953.
