Château Latour-Martillac

Pessac-Léognan

FAMILLE JEAN KRESSMANN

Designated a Graves classified growth for both its red and white wines in 1953, Château Latour-Martillac owes its name to the tower in the courtyard, the vestige of a fortress built in the XII century by the ancestors of the famous winegrower and philosopher, Montesquieu.

A STORY

In a few words

Located on an outstanding Pyrenean gravel rise, this estate caught the eye of Édouard Kressmann, a Bordeaux wine merchant, in 1871. He was particularly impressed by the quality of the white wines. His eldest son, Alfred, finally bought the estate in 1930. He expanded the red wine vineyard and, in 1934, designed the bottle label with his son, Jean, featuring gold and sand-coloured diagonal stripes still in use today.

Nowadays, the estate’s technical teams, led by Technical Director, Edouard Kressmann, perpetuate the family tradition of producing quality rather than quantity from this outstanding Graves terroir.

Thanks to their elegant structure and good balance, Latour-Martillac red and white wines are widely recognised among the most reliable in the Pessac- Léognan appellation.
