Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Pauillac

FRANÇOIS XAVIER BORIE ET SES ENFANTS

Château Grand-Puy owes its name to its location on a puy (hill) and the family who owned it around the time the 1855 classification was established.

A STORY

In a few words

The estate’s terroir, consisting of a single block of vines overlooking the town of Pauillac, benefits from an outstanding hilly terrain and a favourable microclimate influenced by the nearby estuary. The château reigns over a sea of vines. Included in the famous 1855 classification, Grand-Puy-Lacoste has played an important role in the history of Bordeaux wine since the early 16th century. Several families have since taken over direction of the estate, including the Lacostes and Raymond Dupins who handed it over to the Borie family in 1978. François-Xavier Borie, estate owner and manager, continues to renovate the facilities to help better express the quality and typical characteristics of its outstanding terroir. The resulting wines have powerful, velvety tannins, reminiscent of the Pauillac appellation.
