Built in the 16th century, Grand Mayne originally belonged to the vast Le Maine estate, which the Laveau family acquired in 1685.

A STORY

In a few words

After two centuries of ownership, the “Laveau Empire” was gradually dismantled. It eventually found stability thanks to Jean Nony, a wine merchant who fell under the charm of this splendid manor house (or “mayne” in old French) and its terroir, and purchased it in 1934.

 

A listed historic monument, the château is surrounded by 17 hectares of vines planted in a single block, ideally located on the finest clay-limestone terroirs which make Saint-Emilion wines so special.

 

By investing in state-of-the-art winemaking facilities and imbuing their wines with distinctive charm, Jean-Pierre (son of Jean) and his wife Marie-Françoise catapulted Grand Mayne to being one of the most promising and talked-about classified growths in Saint-Emilion.

 

Nowadays, the ambitious third generation, led by Jean-Antoine and Damien Nony, has put their heart and soul into pursuing this family affair, in a never-ending quest for excellence.
