Over time, Clinet became renowned for its excellent terroir. It featured in the first editions of Bordeaux and its Wines by Cocks and Féret, on the list of “Pomerol First Growths”, and among the pioneering estates to be labelled a “Château”.
Since 2003, the estate has been managed by Ronan Laborde who, alongside his wife, Monique, has made it his mission to reveal the soul of this magical place.
The terroir consists of gravelly clay soil, providing an ideal environment for growing local historic grape varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Most vineyard operations are done by hand, while the grapes are transported by gravity flow to the underground cellar where gentle methods are used.
Château Clinet’s first wine is characterised by elegant, intense, refined and complex aromas of red and blue fruits, garrigue and sweet spices.
