Château Marquis de Terme

Margaux

In 1762, the Marquis de Terme gave his name to the wine estate that was part of his wife’s dowry.

A STORY

In a few words

In 1787, Thomas Jefferson, future president of the United States, put this wine on the map, ranking it as one of his favourites. In the heart of the Médoc Regional Natural Park in the prestigious Margaux appellation on Bordeaux’s Left Bank lies a unique landscape combining a bucolic setting, the hustle and bustle of a wine estate and the status of a great growth in the 1855 classification. The Sénéclauze family, who have owned the château since 1935, have continued to develop it from one generation to the next. This sense of permanence and longevity runs in the family genes, with the pervasive desire to transmit heritage.

Since being appointed Managing Director, Ludovic David has given the estate a new, forward-looking impetus by improving the quality and consistency of the wines, strengthening their position on the Bordeaux marketplace and developing wine tourism activities, with the opening of a restaurant at the estate in 2021, [Au] Marquis de Terme, in partnership with Gregory Coutanceau.
