At the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Lagrange is a Third Classified Growth whose history has been shaped by innovation, the pursuit of excellence and respect for its environment.
The estate’s winemaking heritage and reputation date back to the 17th century. In the 19th century, Count and Countess Dûchatel gave the estate a new impetus. Guided by their visionary outlook and pioneering spirit, they expanded the estate to 280 hectares including 120 hectares of vineyards, paving the way for its designation as a Third Classified Growth in the 1855 Classification.
In 1983, Château Lagrange was acquired by the Japanese family-owned Suntory Group, marking a new chapter in the estate’s history. Significant investments transformed the vineyard and modernised the winery, allowing the terroir to express its full character and giving rise to wines that embody the distinctive style of Saint-Julien: elegant, balanced and precise, with outstanding ageing potential.
Today, Château Lagrange continues its pursuit of excellence with every vintage, crafting exceptional wines while preserving its natural environment, with a constant commitment to protecting biodiversity and reducing the estate’s environmental footprint.
