Their desire to preserve the estate’s heritage pays tribute to the work of Louis Gaspard d’Estournel, who acquired the estate in 1847.
Located on a deep gravel plateau on Le Cos (“stony hill”) composed of clay soil on a limestone bedrock, Cos Labory benefits from the proximity of the Gironde Estuary and the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, which moderates extreme temperatures.
The 35 hectares of vines have an average age of 38. Half of them consist of Cabernet Sauvignon, a third of Merlot and a small percentage of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Building on these assets, Michel Reybier “is dedicated to perpetuating the independence of the estate and steering it towards excellence, driven by the great Saint-Estèphe terroir.”
