Château Rieussec

Sauternes & Barsac

DOMAINES BARONS DE ROTHSCHILD (LAFITE)

Owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) since 1984, Château Rieussec is located in the heart of the Sauternes vineyards on an exceptional terroir composed of sandy-clay gravel and limestone outcrops.

A STORY

In a few words

In the 18th century, the Rieussec estate belonged to the Carmelite monks in Langon, and was ranked a Sauternes and Barsac first great growth. The 85-hectare vineyard is planted with Sémillon (81%), Sauvignon Blanc (17%), and Muscadelle (2%). Each vintage is aged in oak barrels primarily from the Tonnellerie des Domaines cooperage. Barrel ageing lasts from 16 to 22 months, depending on the vintage.

Château Rieussec is a unique estate nestled between Yquem and Fargues, overlooking the meeting point between the Ciron and Garonne rivers.
